Check Out the Parthenon

The Parthenon in Nashville is a replica of the famous temple in Athens, Greece, built in the exact same size as the original. The Nashville version originally went up in the 1890s as part of the Tennessee Centennial Celebration for 100 years of statehood and was reconstructed as a permanent fixture of Centennial Park in the 1920s.

You can walk around the exterior Doric columns or visit a museum inside to see a 42-foot-tall gilded statue of Athena. There is also lots of space to walk, bike and play in the surrounding park.

Dance Down the Honky Tonk Highway

Nashville is one of the best places to visit in Tennessee and you can’t go there without spending some time wandering along the Honky Tonk Highway, a stretch along lower Broadway downtown where country tunes ring out from bars and stages by day and night.

Look for famous names like Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and the Wildhorse Saloon for line dancing and live music or pop into less popular venues for fewer crowds.

Find the Best Nashville Murals

You don’t have to wander far in downtown Nashville to stumble upon a fun mural, and a few are popular enough to draw small crowds. Snapping pics with your pals in front of the colorful displays make for a fun Nashville girls’ getaway activity.

If you’re hunting for the super famous ones you’ve seen on social media, head over to The Gulch neighborhood for the “what lifts you” wings and 12 South for the “I believe in Nashville” wall. Plenty of others that aren’t over-photographed are literally around every corner, though.

The Ultimate Girls Trip to Georgetown, Texas

Tour the Ryman Auditorium

There are so many historic music venues in the city to tour, but if you’re just in Nashville for a weekend, the Ryman Auditorium should be a top contender. The historic venue hosted the Grand Ole Opry for three decades starting in 1943 and still holds concerts and performances today. Visitors can see the stage and relic displays on behind-the-scenes tours at the “Mother Church of Country Music.”

Shop on 12 South

If you’re looking for somewhere fun to shop and grab a coffee on a Nashville girls trip, head over to 12 South. Spanning about a half dozen blocks along 12th Avenue South near Belmont University, the walkable strip houses chic boutiques and stores, coffee shops, barbecue restaurants, and a couple of colorful Nashville murals.

Other popular shopping destinations include The Gulch downtown, Hillsboro Village near Belmont and Vanderbilt, Opry Mills mall by the Grand Ole Opry, and the Nashville Farmers Market near the state capitol building.

Take a Trolley Tour

Trolley tours around downtown Nashville are a fun way to see the sites and discover a little country music history with a knowledgeable guide. You'll scoot down Lower Broadway, to the Ryman Auditorium and along Music Row, home to the famous RCA Studio B.

Visit Music Valley

Home to the Grand Ole Opry, the district known as Music Valley is about 10 miles northeast of downtown. In the area, you can catch a show or tour the Opry, shop at the Opry Mills outlet mall, or pop into the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center to gawk at the huge indoor atrium with water features, restaurants and more.

Museum Hop

If you have enough time on your girls’ weekend in Nashville, carve out a few hours for one of the downtown museums.

Many, like the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, stick to the vibe of the city, but you can also explore the Tennessee State Museum, Frist Art Museum or Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame for something different.

Hardcore country enthusiasts will find niche museums to fan favs like Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell.

This girls trip in Nashville includes bakeries like this one where a woman stands holding doughnuts under a colorful wall mural that says I heart donuts.

Grab Coffee and Brunch

No Nashville girls weekend is complete without a couple of brunch or coffee runs, and there are endless options to pick from. I loved Five Daughters Bakery for one-of-a-kind doughnuts and Frothy Monkey for coffee and lunch but you can find other fan favorites here for coffee shops and here for restaurants.

Try Nashville Hot Chicken

Nashville's famous spicy fried chicken is a must-eat while you’re in the city. A few places specialize in the dish, but one of the most popular (and delicious) is Hattie B’s. You can order it in a sandwich or with sides and adjust the hot level to your taste.

Where to Stay for a Nashville Girls Trip

Looking for the perfect place to stay in Nashville on a girl’s trip? Check out these hotels and resorts around the city.

This hotel in Nashville with a pool deck surrounded by lounge chairs overlooking the city skyline is one of the best places to stay in Nashville.

Broadway Downtown

If you want to be close to the downtown action for your girls trip to Nashville, hotels along Broadway are a great choice since you can walk to the honky-tonks, museums and more.

Grand Hyatt Nashville is a new lux property in Nashville Yards about a half-mile walk from the buzzing Honky Tonk Highway scene. A rooftop bar, 5th-floor pool deck, and seven on-site dining and drinking options fill the towering property with killer downtown views.

Housed in an old railroad post on Broadway, Union Station Hotel has major Music City vibes, with guest rooms accented in leather and local art, live music in the lobby, and an on-site restaurant dishing out Southern favorites.

Midtown

The Midtown neighborhood is two miles removed from the Broadway hub but right by Vanderbilt University, Music Row and Centennial Park. It’s a great area to stay on a Nashville girls trip.

The Graduate Nashville in Midtown is absolutely perfect for a Nashville girls getaway with pink and floral decor everywhere you look. Rooms here have sweet touches like canopy beds, gilded mirrors, pink wallpaper and plush curtains and on-site eateries include a fuschia-themed bar and restaurant on the rooftop, a karaoke dive, and a cafe with chandeliers.
The hotel atrium at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville is full of dining tables, water fountains and palm trees.

Music Valley

Though a bit removed from the downtown scene, Music Valley has the Grand Ole Opry and a destination hotel perfect for family vacations or Nashville girls trips.

The Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center is packed with amenities and activities that make it easy to never leave. The massive atrium inside is full of restaurants, cafes and a walking loop with a river, waterfall and greenery. The property also has a water park, golf course, spa and special seasonal events and offerings.
